Middlesbrough vs Huddersfield: Predictions

Middlesbrough have not won in five games and defeat to a struggling Derby County on the weekend came as a disappointment with Warnock hoping his side could have closed the gap to the play-off places to just three points. However, Warnock’s side instead holds the worst five-game form record.

Like Middlebrough’s opponents on the weekend, Huddersfield, too struggling. The Terriers suffered a crushing 3-2 defeat to the bottom-side Wycombe on the weekend which saw their winless record since the turn of the year continue.

When the two sides met earlier this season back in November it was the Terriers which ran out 3-2 winners with a late Josh Koroma goal sealing the three points for the home side. Carlos Corberán will be hoping the capitulation against Wycombe can be forgotten as they travel one hour north on Tuesday.

Despite their poor recent record, Middlebrough still sit in a good position to push for the play-off places and a win on Tuesday could take them within three points of sixth-spot depending on how results go elsewhere.

Middlesbrough vs Huddersfield: Match Stats

Huddersfield’s defensive issues have left with the second-worst defensive record having conceded 42 goals in the league.

Only bottom-side Wycombe Wanderers (49) have conceded more goals than Huddersfield (42) this season. The weekend’s 3-2 defeat to Wycombe will have left the Town fans concerned by their defensive issues as they linger around the relegation zone. Middlesbrough will be looking to take advantage of Huddersfield’s woes as they aim to get their season back on track.

Jonathan Hogg has received the joint-third most yellow cards this season on seven. This game could end up being a tight affair with Middlesbrough struggling in front of goal which could lead to the game being played in the middle of the park. Hogg has been at the centre of Huddersfield’s midfield this season which has seen him pick up those yellow cards.
