Tottenham have already secured a spot in one cup final this season, beating Brentford 2-0 in the Carabao Cup semi-final in midweek to set up a showdown with Manchester City in April. The win continued Tottenham’s recent unbeaten run, now at four games, after a minor blip in which they lost to Liverpool and Leicester.
But now the attention turns to the FA Cup, a competition Tottenham haven’t won since 1991, also the last time they reached the final. Entering in the third round as always, Tottenham have made it over the first hurdle in each of the past six seasons, beating lower-league opposition in four of those years. Joining in the Preliminary Round, Marine had to play five games just to reach the First Round Proper, and knocked Colchester United and Havant and Waterlooville out to set up this monumental tie.
