The 2022/23 season can only be described as a success for Manchester United. In Lyon, the calibre of opponent goes up another notch for Man Utd. The French side finished seventh in Ligue 1 last season while also reaching the semi-finals of the Coupe de France. With a squad including the likes of Anthony Lopes, Nicolas Tagliafico, Alexandre Lacazette and Rayan Cherki, Lyon will certainly provide a stern test for the 20-time English champions.

Man Utd vs Lyon match stats
Just as was the case against Leeds, Man Utd are likely to field a different XI in each half against Lyon. One player who will be looking to make an impression is Mason Mount, who made his debut for the club last time out. Mount arrives following a 195-game spell with Chelsea which yielded 33 goals and three trophies, including the Champions League title.
