Graham Potter could become the first ever manager in the Premier League era to beat Manchester United twice with two different sides in the same season when the Red Devils come to town on Saturday evening, having already beating them 2-1 with Brighton in August. Potter has made an unbeaten start to life at Stamford Bridge, having won five and drawing two of his seven matches, keeping a clean sheet in each of the last five.
The Blues are unbeaten in their last eight Premier League home games (W5, D3), winning the last three in a row and will be hoping to record their first league win over United since November 2017 when Alvaro Morata scored the winner.
Erik ten Hag has won three of his four games against ‘Big Six’ sides this campaign, including a comprehensive 2-0 victory over Tottenham at Old Trafford on Wednesday in game that saw the home side record 28 shots, which is the most an Antonio Conte side has ever conceded in a league game throughout his career.
After a run of seven consecutive away defeats, Manchester United have won three of their last four on the road in the Premier League (L1), but will need to overcome a poor record at Stamford Bridge that has seen them win just two of their last 20 Premier League away games against Chelsea (D8 L10), winning 3-2 in October 2012 and 2-0 in February 2020.

Chelsea vs Manchester United match stats
No Premier League fixture has been drawn as often as Chelsea against Manchester United (25). Indeed, six of the last eight meetings between the sides has finished level, including each of the last four in a row, with under 2.5 goals landing in each of the last five league matches between the two teams.
Kepa has been in sensational form since getting the nod from Graham Potter, keeping a clean sheet in each of his last five games across all competitions and conceding just two goals in his last seven matches. The Spanish shot stopper set a new personal best for saves in a Premier League game when he made seven in a fantastic goalkeeping display in the 2-0 win over Aston Villa last weekend, followed up by making a further five in the midweek draw with Brentford.
Based on the placements of the shots on target he faced, Kepa’s 12 saves in his last two Premier League matches prevented 3.31 goals in two fantastic displays that have earned him rave reviews from his new manager.
One man that will be looking to breach Kepa’s net is Marcus Rashford. The Englishman is almost guaranteed to lead the line for Man Utd this weekend with Anthony Martial injured and Cristiano Ronaldo being dropped from the squad. Ronaldo refused to come on as a substitute in Man Utd’s 2-0 win over Tottenham in midweek and left Old Trafford before full-time, which he also did in a pre-season friendly with Rayo Vallecano.
“I am head manager, I am responsible for the top sport culture here and I have to set standards and values and I have to control them. In the team, we have values and standards and I have to control that,” Erik ten Hag told reporters.
“So after Rayo Vallecano, I told him it was unacceptable but he was not the only one, but that is for everyone, so when it is the second time, that will have consequences.
“We miss him tomorrow. It’s a miss for the squad but it’s important for the attitude and mentality of the group and now we have to focus on Chelsea and that is the most important thing.
“I think it will have a (time for) reflection for him, but also for everyone else, I sent a warning at the start of the season, next time there have to be consequences otherwise when you are living together when you are playing together, football is a team sport and you have to fulfil certain standards. And I have to control it.”
Rashford is a good replacement to have up front, especially against Chelsea. The Englishman has been involved in seven goals against Chelsea in all competitions, scoring five and providing a further two assists. Only against Arsenal and West Ham (eight each) has Rashford been directly involved in more goals. That record is in stark contrast to England teammate, but opponent this weekend, Raheem Sterling.
Should he feature, Saturday will be Sterling’s 24th game against Man Utd across all competitions — with a third different club. However, he has never scored against the Red Devils, attempting 38 shots with just 15 hitting the target. Sterling is Chelsea’s top scorer across all competitions this season with four goals, three of which have come in the Premier League.
