Chelsea vs Man Utd: Predictions
Thomas Tuchel recorded another impressive win in his short Chelsea tenure during the week as they earned a 1-0 advantage in their first-leg clash away to Atletico Madrid. Against La Liga’s top side, Tuchel’s side dominated the game and Olivier Giroud’s stunning overhead kick provided the Blues an away goal advantage going into the second-leg.
Manchester United’s title charge has drifted away after only recording two wins in their last six Premier League games. However, ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men will have been pleased to be fighting for the second spot before the season and find themselves second but level on points with Leicester.
Tuchel still seems to be working out his best starting XI but looks to be getting more out of Timo Werner than Frank Lampard was able to. The German forward netted in their league outing against Newcastle two weeks ago in what was an improved performance from the 24-year-old.
West Ham have pulled two points clear of Chelsea in the race for fourth place, but the Blues could leapfrog David Moyes’ side come Sunday evening as the Hammers come up against Manchester City on Saturday afternoon.
Chelsea vs Man Utd: Match Stats
Bruno Fernandes is putting the pressure on Mohamed Salah in the race for the Premier League Golden Boot as the Portuguese midfielder has 15 goals to his name this season. Fernandes has scored in his last four consecutive Premier League games and the midfielder will have his sights on adding another to his name come Sunday evening.
United also have the league’s top tackler in their side in the form of Aaron Wan-Bissaka who has 71 successful tackles to his name. The England full-back will be called upon again on the weekend with Werner looking to get back to his best.
24 October 2020 – Manchester United 0-0 Chelsea – Premier League
19 July 2020 – Manchester United 1-3 Chelsea – FA Cup
17 February 2020 – Chelsea 0-2 Manchester United – Premier League
30 October 2019 – Chelsea 1-2 Manchester United – League Cup
11 August 2019 – Manchester United 4-0 Chelsea – Premier League
28 April 2019 – Manchester United 1-1 Chelsea – Premier League
The previous outing between these two sides broke the trend of guaranteed goals as the sides dragged out a bore draw. However, on the back of European games during the week we could see two defensives with mistakes in their legs which could lead to the usual programme of certain goals.
