Manchester City vs Tottenham: Predictions

Pep Guardiola will consider this game as an opportunity to get revenge on Jose Mourinho after Saturday’s visitors took all three points earlier in the season when they met in a 2-0 win for Tottenham as they pushed Liverpool at the top of the league.

City have not suffered defeat in the league since that trip to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. 14 games later and Guardiola’s men sit top of the tree with local rivals Manchester United five points behind in second place.

Spurs have not fared well since as their title charge has since derailed and they find themselves down in eighth and four points behind the fourth-placed Liverpool. Victory over West Brom on Sunday may have boosted their confidence but defeat in a 5-4 thriller to Everton during the week will have brought them straight back down to earth.

With the unexpected return of Harry Kane on Sunday, Spurs will be hoping they can get their season back up and running. The Englishman has netted 13 times this season in the league alone and provided 11 assists with Heung-min Son on the end of most of them.

Manchester City vs Tottenham: Match Stats

Raheem Sterling has netted three goals in his last three games in all competitions and will be looking to add to his impressive tally against Tottenham. Under manager Pep Guardiola, Sterling has netted six times against Spurs and with Saturday’s visitors looking shaky at the back he could well add to that tally.

Tottenham have looked dreadful defensively in recent weeks and that was evident in their 5-4 defeat to Everton in the FA Cup on Wednesday night. Individual errors are costing Spurs and they come up against the league’s most in-form side who put four past the current champions Liverpool last weekend.
