Borussia Dortmund vs Man City: Squawka Says
Scoreline prediction: Borussia Dortmund 1-3 Man City
Manchester City carry a slender 2-1 advantage into the game in Dortmund on Wednesday. Goals from Kevin De Bruyne and a Phil Foden gave Pep Guardiola’s side the aggregate lead with a contentious referee decision leaving Borussia Dortmund frustrated that they didn’t leave England with more away goals.
Dortmund fought from behind on the weekend to beat Stuttgart 3-2. Edin Terzic’s side found themselves behind after just 11 minutes but prevailed through a late goal from Ansgar Knauff. Despite the three points, Dortmund still sit seven points clear of a place in the top four.
Guardiola’s men will be aiming to avoid back-to-back defeats following their shock loss at home to Leeds United on the weekend. Marcelo Bielsa’s 10-man side took the lead in the first half but were pegged back by a Ferran Torres goal, however, Stuart Dallas completed his brace in the dying minutes of the game to leave City stunned.
Haaland was unable to find the back of the net against one of the side’s who are said to be in the running for his services in the summer, but the Norwegian did have a part to play in Marco Reus’ equaliser. The 20-year-old provided the assist for the German but with a deficit to chase he will be hoping to get his name on the scoresheet on Wednesday night.
Borussia Dortmund vs Man City: Match Stats
Haaland has been one of Dortmund’s only bright sparks this season having netted 21 goals in 23 Bundesliga games, however, the 20-year-old is in the middle of a goal drought by his own standards and will be hoping he can pick up on his Champions League form of 10 goals in his seven appearances.
Marco Reus’ goal at the Etihad Stadium was just the second goal that City had conceded in the Champions League. City have now only kept four clean sheets in their last 10 games across all competitions and with the tie far from decided City will be hoping they can keep their 100% unbeaten record intact in this season’s competition.
