Aston Villa vs Man City: Predictions
Manchester City will be aiming to bounce back from FA Cup disappointment on the weekend following their 1-0 defeat at Wembley Stadium to Chelsea on Saturday. The quadruple the City fans had hoped of was put to an end by Thomas Tuchel’s side at the national stadium leaving them with the Premier League, Champions League and Carabao Cup still to play for.
Since the absnese of Jack Grealish, Aston Villa’s form has nose dived with their ambitions of European football falling away too. With only two wins in their last nine Premier League games, Villa have slumped down to 11th place, however, their fans would’ve taken that on the back of just avoiding relegation last year.
Guardiola’s men suffered a stunning 2-1 defeat last time out in the Premier League. Despite playing against 10 man Leeds United for the whole of the second-hald, it was the Yorkshire side which prevailed with a Staurt Dalls brace earning all three points for Marcelo Bielsa and providing Manchester United with a glimmer of hope with just six games remaining of the 2020/21 campaign.
The fitness of Villa’s star man remains unclear, but with City’s Carabao Cup final on Sunday it is likely we could see Guardiola rotate his side as he normally does ahead of important games. However, he will also be wary of Manchester United having closed the gap on their city rivals on the weekend with just seven points separating the two Manchester sides at the top of the Premier League tree now.

Aston Villa vs Man City: Match Stats
Aston Villa’s recent history against City is pretty poor – to put it kindly. Villa have lost 11 of the last 13 games between the two sides which included a 2-0 defeat earlier in the season at the Etihad. Without Grealish, Villa’s goal threat has been nullified which has seen them win just two of their last league games.
In the last four Premier League meetings between these two sides, City have ran out as winners on each occasion with a combined aggregate score of 15-1 with Villa’s only goal coming in their last home league game against the current Premier League leaders in a 6-1 defeat.

Villa’s recent record against City is nothing far of horrendous. However, it is a huge week ahead for Guardiola’s side who have the pressure stacked on them having suffered FA Cup heartbreak at Wembley on Saturday. City are also likely to be without Kevin de Bruyne this week as a result of an injury which he sustained in the defeat to Chelsea.
