Last season they finished sixth but lost in the play-off semi finals to Huddersfield Town, who themselves were beaten by Nottingham Forest in the final. Luton are in a good position to qualify for the play-offs once again, currently fourth, five points clear of seventh-placed Norwich City and will fancy their chances of staying clear. The Hatters are also in decent form, now unbeaten in their past four games including a victory over second-placed Sheffield United at the weekend.
Bristol City, meanwhile, are part of a group of teams who are beginning to look as though they have very little to play for. And perhaps they won’t mind that right now. While Robins fans will have lofty hopes of reaching the Premier League, in recent seasons Bristol City have been closer to the relegation battle than the playoff fight, finishing 19th and 17th in the past two campaigns.
But now, Bristol City are 13th, some 13 points clear of the relegation zone and preparations can be made for a possible promotion charge next season. The Robins are unbeaten in their past two games since losing to Cardiff at the start of March, but both of those results did come against teams currently in the relegation zone, drawing with Huddersfield and beating Blackpool.

Luton vs Bristol City match stats
Alex Scott is often praised for his fine footwork in the Bristol City midfield but he also puts himself about. Scott has been booked nine times in the Championship this season, more than any other player for Bristol City or Luton Town, and has also committed 47 fouls – another high for the Robins.
Luton are actually the team with the most fouls per game in the Championship this season, averaging 12.33, but they are also pretty strong in defence right now. The Hatters have kept clean sheets in three of their past four league games while Bristol City’s 2-0 win over Cardiff at the weekend ended a three-match run for the Robins in which they had failed to find the net.
