Liverpool vs Crystal Palace: Predictions
A win for Liverpool on the weekend would secure them a spot in next season’s Champions League – barring a huge win for Leicester against Tottenham Hotspur. The Reds currently occupy the last spot in the Champions League spots on the same number of points as fifth-placed Leicester but with a four-goal better goal difference.
Crystal Palace have very little apart from 12th spot to play for in their trip to Anfield, however, it will be Roy Hodgson’s final game in charge of the Eagles. After four seasons at the south London club, the 73-year-old will manage his final game for Palace at his former stomping ground having spent a few months with the Anfield side.
The previous meeting between these two sides came in December and the Reds inflicted an embarrassing 7-0 defeat on the Eagles which saw Klopp’s men show a glimpse of what they are capable of amid their issues with their crippling defensive injuries.
It is not an absolute must-win for the Reds on Sunday, Klopp’s men could get away with just matching Leicester’s result against Tottenham, however, given the north London side’s recent form, Klopp will not be counting on Ryan Mason’s men for a helping hand in their trip to the King Power Stadium.
Liverpool vs Crystal Palace: Match Stats
Mohamed Salah will have his eyes on the Premier League Golden Boot on Sunday. The task at hand for the Reds is to qualify for the Champions League, but the Egyptian will be hoping he can grab a goal or two along the way to beat Harry Kane to be crowned as the Premier League top scorer with both players currently on 22 goals.
In five of Liverpool’s last six Premier League games, the Reds have managed to score in the opening 35 minutes of the game. A fast start will be exactly what Jurgen Klopp will be hoping for on Sunday as they look to settle any nerves they have going into the game as they look to end their largely underwhelming season on a high.
