Liverpool vs Brighton: Predictions
Liverpool bounced back from their shock defeat to Burnley with back-to-back 3-1 victories over Tottenham and West Ham last week. Jurgen Klopp’s men had lost ground on the two Manchester teams and although City continue their incredible run of form, United are now within touching distance.
Graham Potter’s Brighton stunned Tottenham on Sunday with an impressive 1-0 win over Jose Mourinho’s side. Leandro Trossard’s early strike proved enough to seal the points for the Seagulls, but the home side did prove a constant threat to Spurs which saw Potter’s side pull seven points clear of the relegation zone.
The last time these two sides met was back in November when the Seagulls held Klopp’s side to a 1-1 draw with Pascal Gross converting a stoppage-time penalty to deny the visitors all three points. Diogo Jota scored for Liverpool that day but the Reds have been without the Portuguese forward since December through injury.
Mohamed Salah netted a brace for Liverpool on the weekend against West Ham as the Egyptian climbed further clear at the top of the Premier League Top Scorer’s chart. With Sadio Mane’s minor injury leaving him questionable for Wednesday’s game it will be Salah who will be looking to lead his side to victory.

Liverpool vs Brighton: Match Stats
Earlier this year, Burnley ended Liverpool’s incredible 68-game unbeaten run at home with Ashley Barnes’ late penalty. With that record out of the window, Klopp’s men will be looking to record their first home win since and begin another long run of unbeaten games at Anfield.
Salah (31) and Neal Maupay (19) have recorded the most shots on target for their teams (Salah most in the league). Although chances may come at a premium for the Seagulls the chances they do get are likely to come through their Frenchman.

8 July 2020 – Brighton 1-3 Liverpool – Premier League
30 November 2019 – Liverpool 2-1 Brighton – Premier League
12 January 2019 – Brighton 0-1 Liverpool – Premier League
25 August 2018 – Liverpool 1-0 Brighton – Premier League
The Seagulls have a miserable recent record against the current Premier League Champions and Wednesday’s tie does not indicate anything will change between the two sides. Liverpool added to their makeshift defence on the last day of the Transfer Window which they will hope can bring them a clean sheet against Brighton.
