Atalanta, meanwhile, fell to their first Champions League defeat of the season against Liverpool at the start of November, suffering a 5-0 home humbling at the hands of the English champions having taken four points from two games prior.

That defeat was the start of what has been a three-game winless run for Gian Piero Gasperini’s men, who have drawn their last two Serie A games, 1-1 and 0-0 against Inter Milan and Spezia, respectively.

Atalanta failed to score for the first time in 10 Champions League games during their 5-0 defeat to Liverpool last time out. They had averaged 2.3 goals per game in those 10 matches.
