When Leicester finished third in their Europa League group at the end of last year, manager Brendan Rodgers didn’t know his side had dropped down to the Europa Conference League as a result. But the Foxes are here and will undoubtedly be looking to go as far as they can to boost their chances of qualifying for the Europa League, facing an uphill battle in the Premier League.
Leicester entered the Europa Conference League at in the knockout play-off rounds and cruised past Danish Superlig side Randers, winning 4-1 at home in the first leg and 3-1 in the return fixture. The Foxes go into this game off the back of three consecutive wins, beating Burnley and Leeds since their second leg victory over Randers.
But they face a Rennes side that are finding form in their push for Champions League football in Ligue 1 and unbeaten in the Europa Conference League. Bruno Genesio’s side are currently fourth in Ligue 1 but only one point behind third-placed Marseille and three off Nice in second, part of a packed group fighting to be the best of the rest.
Unlike Leicester, Rennes had a bye to the last 16 of the Europa Conference League as a result of topping their group. The French side finished four points clear of Vitesse at the top of Group G with four wins and two draws from their six matches, which did include a 3-0 forfeit victory over Tottenham after the game was postponed.

Rennes average 5.89 per game in Ligue 1 this season, with only Marseille averaging more. Leicester, meanwhile, have averaged slightly lower at 5.12 per game in the Premier League.
This will be the first meeting between these two sides and Leicester’s first competitive game against a French side. Rennes, however, have faced English sides eight times in UEFA competitions, winning two.
