Southampton vs Leeds: Predictions
When Leeds were promoted from the Championship last season, a lot of questions were asked about how their style of play would translate over to the Premier League. There have been some rocky moments but Leeds have never looked in danger of relegation and, with two games left to play, they can confirm their spot in the top half of the table.
Leeds are currently 10th, four points clear of Aston Villa and know a win would guarantee their eighth Premier League top-half finish in 13 seasons. Marcelo Bielsa’s side go into this game off the back of two big wins, beating Tottenham 3-1 and Burnley 4-0.
Southampton have also won their past two Premier League matches beating Crystal Palace and Fulham 3-1 as they look to end the campaign on a high. After their blistering start, Southampton crumbled quite spectacularly but were ultimately safe due to the form of those below them.
Unlike Leeds, Southampton are unable to finish in the top half of the Premier League, sitting down in 14th, 10 points behind their visitors on Tuesday. But two victories from their final two games could make the season look slightly better on paper.

Southampton vs Leeds: Match Stats
When talking about Leeds players this season it’s often Patrick Bamford who gets the acclaim, but Jack Harrison has been somewhat of an unsung hero (to those outside of the Leeds fanbase). The Manchester City loanee has been directly involved in 16 Premier League goals for Leeds this season, scoring eight and recording eight assists. Four of those assist have come in Harrison’s past six games, including two last time out against Burnley.
A lot has been said about Leeds and their style of play, especially when it comes to fatigue towards the end of the campaign. Their high intensity does leave Leeds susceptible to burnout, but they have been finishing strongly in Premier League matches, scoring last in 20 of their 36 games so far this season. By contrast, Southampton have only scored last on 13 occasions, but are the brighter starters, opening the scoring 18 times (to Leeds’ 16).

3 March 2012 – Leeds 0-1 Southampton – Championship
6 August 2011 – Southampton 3-1 Leeds – Championship

Last time out, Leeds ended their 19-year wait for a top-flight win over Southampton thanks to a 3-0 victory at Elland Road – the second such result in succession, albeit with over eight years in between. Now they will be looking to secure their first Premier League double over Southampton since 2001/02, another 19-year wait (though the opportunities have been rare).
