There are 14 games left in the 2022/23 Serie A season but ticker tape parades are already being planned as Napoli march towards their first league title in over 30 years. Napoli have been close to breaking that drought on a few occasions in recent years but now their dream appears set to become a reality as Luciano Spalletti’s side go into the latest round of fixtures 18 points clear at the top of the table.
Having the benefit of playing first, Napoli could extend their lead to 21 albeit momentarily, further piling the pressure on those who still harbour hopes of catching them. Napoli have been pretty much formidable in Serie A this season dropping just seven points from their opening 24 games, with 21 wins, two draws and just one defeat. But since that sole defeat to Inter Milan, Napoli have won eight straight league matches and at the moment it appears there’s no stopping them.
But Lazio have their own ambitions for the season and cannot afford to drop any points in what is turning out to be a close battle for the top four. Just six points separate second-placed Inter Milan and Atalanta down in sixth, with Lazio currently occupying the final Champions League spot – one ahead of Roma.
Maurizio Sarri’s side had gone through a mini rough patch last month which saw them lose any signs of comfort in the Champions League battle, with two draws and a defeat – losing to Atalanta. However, they have bounced back in recent weeks, beating Salernitana and Sampdoria, the latter allowing them to leapfrog Roma.

Napoli vs Lazio match stats
Napoli as a unit have been incredible this season but the one man shining brighter than the rest right now is Victor Osimhen. The Nigerian is Serie A’s top scorer this season with 19 goals, six more than closest rival Lautaro Martinez. He is also on a fantastic run right now, scoring in each of this last eight Serie A matches.
You’re always guaranteed action in Napoli matches but this time you might have to wait until the second half. Napoli have conceded just seven goals in the first half of Serie A matches this season, with only one side letting in fewer. That one side is Lazio, who have conceded just four goals in the first half, fewer than any other team in Europe’s top five leagues.
