The 2010 World Cup winners make their return to tournament football later this month following their omission from the 2018 World Cup. The Azzurri has enjoyed somewhat of a resurgence under Roberto Mancini and will view Friday’s opposition as a better judgement of where they lie ahead of the tournament.
England fans should have their eyes on this clash with the Czech Republic making up one of the teams in Group D. The Czechs will have high hopes of progressing through to the knockout stages this summer but Friday’s clash against Italy will give them a good marker as to where they are ahead of their opening game against Scotland.
Italy put minnows, San Marino, to the sword last week in a 7-0 rout, however, that will serve as nothing more than a training exercise for Mancini’s side. The game on Friday against the Czechs will serve the Azzurri a chance to flex their muscles against a side that drew against Belgium just a matter of months ago.

The Azzurri have seen a dramatic improvement under Roberto Mancini. In their last seven games, they have scored first and conceded having conceded a total of just one goal – which came in a 1-1 draw against the Netherlands. Although the Czech Republic should provide Mancini’s side with a challenge, we expect the Azzurri to come out flying.
Although we expect the Czech Republic to provide Mancini’s men with a tough assignment, it is hard to look past Italy’s incredible recent defensive record. Since November 2018, Italy have kept a total of 15 clean sheets across their 21 games played across all competitions – conceding just six goals in those games.
