Scotland will be hoping to secure their promotion to Uefa Nations League A when they travel to face Israel on Wednesday night.

The November international break has already been a successful one for Scotland, as they secured their place at Euro 2020, their first major tournament since the 1998 World Cup.
But now they are fighting to face the bigger nations in the next edition of the Nations League, scheduled for 2022/23. Steve Clarke’s side go into Wednesday’s game top of League B2, one point clear of Czech Republic, who face Slovakia.
Scotland already had one chance to secure promotion when they faced Slovakia at the weekend, but they were beaten 1-0 as their opponents earned their first win.
So it all comes down to Wednesday. Win against an Israel side also fighting for their safety and Scotland will be in Nations League A. A draw or defeat may also still be enough, though that will require Czech Republic failing to beat Slovakia.

There is a lot on the line for both sides who need to win to secure their desired Nations League aims. Scotland may still be feeling the affects of their celebrations from last week, but Clarke’s side have been resolute in the Nations League while Israel are the draw specialists of the group.
Although Scotland are top of the group, they have the joint-worst attack, scoring five goals in their five games. But they also have the best defence, shipping just three goals and keeping two clean sheets.

Scotland and Israel have faced each other on six occasions so far, and four of them have come in the past two years. They met in the inaugural Nations League groups stage in 2018 when they shared a win each, both coming when at home.
But Scotland were victorious in the most recent game, beating Israel on penalties to reach the Euro 2020 play-offs final.
