Hungary vs Poland: Predictions

Hungary come into this game on the back of a six-game unbeaten run which has seen them win four of those games and draw the other two. Marco Rossi’s men were perhaps one of the surprise packages in the Nations League as they pipped Russia, Serbia and Turkey to take top spot in Group 3 of League B.

Poland have not won in their last two games after suffering defeats to the Netherlands and Italy. However, the Poles have won four of their last eight games in the Nations League – two of those defeats coming against the Dutch.

With England being the out-and-out favourites to win Group I, these two nations will view themselves as the two sides expected to battle it out for second place and an early victory would certainly help their cause for World Cup qualification. Although a win for either side will not secure anything yet, it would certainly put down a marker for the rest of their group stage games.

Hungary have not qualified for a World Cup since 1986, which is the same World Cup when Poland last progressed from the group stages in the tournament. Thursday’s hosts will be hoping they can defy the odds and make it to their first World Cup in what will be 36 years.

Hungary vs Poland: Match Stats

Robert Lewandowski – Bundesliga 2020/21 radar.

Robert Lewandowski is in outstanding form in the Bundesliga this season having found the back of the net 35 times in just 25 appearances as he aims to beat Gerd Muller’s one season goal record of 40. The 32-year-old has scored twice in his last three games for Poland and he will be aiming to get his World Cup Qualifiers account up and running on Thursday.

Poland goes into this game as favourites to win, however, out of their last eight games they have conceded in six of those. However, they have won six of their last 10 games – with three of those defeats coming to the Netherlands and Italy.
