Hungary vs Poland: Predictions
Hungary come into this game on the back of a six-game unbeaten run which has seen them win four of those games and draw the other two. Marco Rossi’s men were perhaps one of the surprise packages in the Nations League as they pipped Russia, Serbia and Turkey to take top spot in Group 3 of League B.
Poland have not won in their last two games after suffering defeats to the Netherlands and Italy. However, the Poles have won four of their last eight games in the Nations League – two of those defeats coming against the Dutch.
With England being the out-and-out favourites to win Group I, these two nations will view themselves as the two sides expected to battle it out for second place and an early victory would certainly help their cause for World Cup qualification. Although a win for either side will not secure anything yet, it would certainly put down a marker for the rest of their group stage games.
Hungary have not qualified for a World Cup since 1986, which is the same World Cup when Poland last progressed from the group stages in the tournament. Thursday’s hosts will be hoping they can defy the odds and make it to their first World Cup in what will be 36 years.
