As this is both teams’ second match, there is a chance that qualification could be on the line. However, both Croatia and Albania do have tricky opening matches.

Even if Croatia do enter this game off the back of a negative result against Spain, they will be fancied to get the job done second time around. Albania are definitely the minnows of the group, not to disrespect the Eagles, but it’s a tall order with Spain and Italy also involved. And Albania are in a poor run of scoring form at the moment, which they’ll be hoping they can get over before the tournament starts.

Germany and Hungary meet in the second game of the second round of Euro 2024 group stage fixtures on June 19 at the the Stuttgart Arena in Stuttgart at 5pm.

Germany, as hosts, automatically qualified for the tournament. Their recent friendlies have given the public some optimism that the short-term experiment with Julian Nagelsmann in charge of the team until the end of the Euro 2024 finals could pay off, with wins over France and The Netherlands.

Hungary, meanwhile, won their qualification group to arrive at the finals in emphatic fashion. Their rise back into the European elite has been impressive for a country that was in the football doldrums for a substantial period of time. They have a decent record against Germany of late as well, with a win and two draws in their last three meetings.

Germany Latest Team News

Whilst there might be a lack of depth compared to previous German generations, there is still a world class first XI in most positions, with some excellent young talent available to Julian Nagelsmann.

The fabulous Florian Wirtz has established himself as a key player in the front line, whilst Jamal Musiala also has bags of talent. Those two players will be in support of either Kai Havertz or Niclas Fullkrug, depending on the type of central forward Nagelsmann wants to us for this match.

The defence has mobility and pace about it, if perhaps a lack of experience and box defending skill, but if one is to play the Nagelsmann way then pace and mobility is something that is required.

Hungary Latest Team News

Barnabas Varga has some excellent data for Hungary in the qualification campaign and deserves his chance to lead the line for his country in a major finals.

Dominik Szoboszlai would probably described as the star of this team and pains are taken in the tactical setup to involved the Liverpool midfielder as much as possible without giving him too much to do from a defensive perspective. He is surrounded by hard working and good professionals who ply their trade in a wide variety of leagues across Europe.

Coach Marco Rossi is likely to deploy a 3-4-2-1 shape against Germany with a double pivot of Adam Nagy and Andras Schafer and wing-backs that could include Bournemouth’s Milos Kerkez, who has had a very solid first Premier League season.

The defence is often a strength of the Hungarian team, with a lot of experience, and plenty of time spent woring as a unit.

Germany vs Hungary Head to Head

This has been a tricky fixture for Germany in recent years, with three games without a win against their Hungarian counterparts. Prior to those matches, it doesn’t make much better reading for Germany. Just three wins in 12 matches against Hungary makes this one of the tougher battles Germany could’ve been handed.
