Inter remain in the box seat to reclaim the Scudetto this season, with Simone Inzaghi’s men capable of leapfrogging rivals AC Milan if they win their game in hand on the current Serie A table-toppers. But, before then they must navigate a potential banana skin against a club battling it out to remain in the division.
Having picked up just one win in their last five games, Inter will be looking to get back to winning ways at the Luigi Ferraris Stadium. Inzaghi has endured a woeful February which started with defeat in the Milan derby, before dropping points away to Napoli and recently losing 2-0 to middling club Sassuolo.
The Nerazzurri were cantering to another league triumph before their wobble in the last few outings, which has just blown the title race wide open, but they remain favourites to get their noses back in front and lining up for 2022/23 with the much-coveted Scudetto embellishing their shirt.
Genoa have endured a season of dugout uncertainty, with the Griffin currently onto their fourth manager, with Alexander Blessin recently taking over from interim boss Abdoulay Konko after Andriy Shevchenko left last month. He faces a monumental job to keep the club in the Italian top flight.

Genoa vs Inter Milan: Match Stats
Edin Dzeko enters this showdown with a formidable record against Genoa. The Griffin are one of two teams Dzeko has been directly involved in more goals than any other club in Europe’s top five leagues, alongside Hoffenheim. He has scored four goals and registered six assists in 10 Serie A matches against them.
And it may be aerially where the Bosnian gets the most fortune in this contest. Inter have scored the most headed goals in Serie A this season (14), with Edin Dzeko their most aerially prolific (4) — and the second-most in the entire division — while Genoa have conceded the most (13).
On top of that, the Nerazzurri have scored 25 goals since they last conceded against Genoa in Serie A. They’ve managed seven consecutive clean sheets and have scored three or more goals in six of those seven showdowns, so Inzaghi will be expecting another rout to get his side’s season back on track.
These sides met on the first day of the 2021/22 season, with Inzaghi getting his Inter career up and running with an emphatic 4-0 win through goals from Milan Skriniar, Hakan Calhanoglu, Arturo Vidal and Dzeko.
