What a difference a good run of form makes. Not long ago Nottingham Forest were in the relegation zone and looked like there was no way out, with Steve Cooper’s job in doubt. However, they are now six points clear of 18th-placed Everton.
The reason for the gap is Nottingham Forest’s five-match unbeaten run which includes three victories, with only two sides in the Premier League having a better current unbeaten streak (Newcastle and Brentford). Nottingham Forest’s current run started with a draw against Chelsea and has since seen them beat Southampton, Leicester and Leeds, while also drawing with Bournemouth.
Fulham, meanwhile, are winless in three matches but do remain in eighth and have a very good chance of qualifying for European football. Eight points outside the top four with fewer games left than the teams above them, Champions League football may be out of the question, but the Europa League or Europa Conference League could still be available.
The Cottagers can be forgiven for their poor run too, having lost to Newcastle and Tottenham — two teams above them in the Premier League table — and drawn with Chelsea. The stalemate against Chelsea did come just a few weeks after Fulham beat their west London rivals, showing they are no mugs.

Fulham vs Nottingham Forest match stats
One of the men at the heart of Nottingham Forest’s revival is Brennan Johnson. A star man as they fought for promotion to the Premier League last season, Johnson hadn’t had the greatest start to life in the Premier League, but the Welshman has been involved in each of Nottingham Forest’s past five goals, scoring three and assisting twice.
Form is certainly against Fulham right now and they have failed to score in each of their past three Premier League matches, their worst such run since December 1999. At the same time, Keylor Navas announced his moved to the Premier League in emphatic fashion, keeping a clean sheet and making four saves in Nottingham Forest’s 1-0 win over Leeds.
