France vs Bulgaria: Predictions
The current world champions will be going into this summer’s Euros tournament with the aim of total football domination which hasn’t been seen since Spain in 2010 and 2012. Les Bleus got this summer off to the perfect start last week with a comfortable 3-0 victory over Wales with goals from Kylian Mbappe, Antoine Griezmann and Ousmane Dembele.
Bulgaria did not qualify for this summer’s tournament so will be hoping to catch Tuesday’s opponents off guard. With just one final game for the Bulgarians until their players are free to enjoy their summer, we expect them to leave nothing on the pitch at the Stade de France.
However, France’s class should prevail comfortably. Didier Deschamps may have one eye on this summer’s competition with the 2018 World Cup winners kicking off their tournament with a blockbuster game against Germany on Tuesday 15 June. Having been drawn in the ‘group of death’, Deschamps will not be able to afford any injuries going in to the injury so we could see a vastly changed France side against Bulgaria.

France vs Bulgaria: Match Stats
Even though we expect some drastic changes to be made on Tuesday against Bulgaria, the gulf in class between the two nations should see France over the line comfortably. However, in only two of their last eight games have Les Bleus been able to find the back of the net more than two times in the 90 minutes – with last weeks victory coming against a 10-man Wales.
Karim Benzema started the game on Wednesday against Wales and given his exceptional season with Real Madrid, Wissam Ben Yedder could receive some minutes against Bulgaria. The 30-year-old came on as a late substitute against the Dragons and will be hoping for more minutes on Tuesday as he aims to add to the 22 goals scored this season.
7 October 2017 – Bulgaria 0-1 France – World Cup Qualifier
7 October 2016 – France 4-1 Bulgaria – World Cup Qualifier
18 June 1996 – France 3-1 Bulgaria – Euros
Meetings between these two nations have not come very frequently, however, Les Bleus have not tasted defeat against Bulgaria since 1993. The most recent clashes which ironically came one year between each other after a 20-year wait, saw France win on both occasions.
