Liverpool vs Sevilla friendly prediction: Reds conclude pre-season preparations
Liverpool vs Sevilla latest prediction
Liverpool face Sevilla at 12:30pm (UK time) on Sunday 11th August at Anfield.
Arne Slot will manage his first game at Anfield as Liverpool host Sevilla in their final preseason match. The Reds have returned to Britain after a successful preseason tour of the United States. They secured a victory over Arsenal and followed it up with an emphatic win over Manchester United in Los Angeles.
Slot seems to have made an immediate impact at Liverpool, and his side looks in great form ahead of the new season, despite not signing anyone this summer. However, tougher tests lie ahead.
This is the second meeting with Premier League opposition for Sevilla this week. García Pimienta’s men came out as 2-1 winners over Fulham, extending their pre-season winning streak to three matches. After matching their wits against Liverpool, the record Europa League champions commence La Liga duties on August 16, where Pimienta reunites with his old club Las Palmas.
BTTS Yes
Liverpool have scored in each of their previous three preseason friendlies, while Sevilla failed to score in one of its five matches played so far this summer.
Over 2.5 goals
The last two pre-season matches played by Liverpool have averaged three goals scored per game. As for Sevilla, their summer friendlies are averaging close to 2.5 goals per game.
Fabio Carvalho to score anytime
One player looking to make an impression on Liverpool head coach Slot is Fábio Carvalho, who spent last season on loan at RB Leipzig and Hull before returning this summer. With a fully fit squad available soon, there could be limited playing time on the horizon, but the Portuguese midfielder has so far made it count in pre-season, having netted against Arsenal and Manchester United.
Liverpool team news
Liverpool’s key players have returned after their breaks due to Euro 2024 and Copa America, so we may finally see Alisson, Virgil van Dijk, and Trent Alexander-Arnold playing together for Slot.
Sevilla team news
France’s Loïc Badé and Spain’s Juanlu Sánchez are both expected to compete in the final of the Paris 2024 Olympics before this game is played. Jesus Navas (Spain), Marcos Acuña, and Gonzalo Montiel (Argentina) are still on holiday. Arsenal loanee Albert Sambi Lokonga will not be involved due to a hamstring injury, which should also keep him out of his side’s opening La Liga match. Former Leicester City striker Kelechi Iheanacho could also make an appearance in this game.
Liverpool vs Sevilla head-to-head
In three previous competitive meetings, Liverpool has failed to beat Sevilla, with their only loss coming in the 2016 Europa League final, which Jurgen Klopp oversaw.
