As we enter the final round of group stage fixtures of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, Zambia will still have their sights firmly set on a spot in the last 16. Since winning the competition in 2012, Zambia haven’t made it to the knockout stages of the Africa Cup of Nations, bowing out at the group stage in back-to-back tournaments before failing to qualify for the past three. And they go into this game with their future on the line — though it is in their own hands. Zambia have just two points from their opening two games at this year’s Africa Cup of Nations, drawing against both DR Congo and Tanzania. Last time out against Tanzania, they had to rely on an 88th-minute equaliser from Patson Daka to seal the point, keeping them third as things stand. It’s pretty simple for Zambia, win and they’ll be through, but a draw may also be enough to advance as one of the best third-placed teams.

Morocco have already guaranteed their spot in the last 16, though their final position still needs to be decided. The Atlas Lions could finish anywhere from first to third, but even if they do drop to the latter, their four points would be enough to advance as one of the best third-placed teams. Right now, four points sees Morocco top of Group F and into the knockout stages for the fourth consecutive tournament. Two years ago they reached the quarter-finals and have built on that, of course reaching the semi-finals of the World Cup last winter. A win over Tanzania and draw with DR Congo have been good so far, but Morocco will want to ensure they finish top and secure a last 16 game against the runners-up of Group E.

Zambia vs Morocco match tip

Youssef En-Nesyri to score anytime @ 6/4 with Bet365

As mentioned, Morocco don’t need to win but they’ll be hoping to end the group stage on a high. In their two games so far at the Africa Cup of Nations, Morocco have scored four goals, with three coming against Tanzania. Youssef En-Nesyri wrapped up the scoring in that victory, adding to the brace he had bagged in their final warm up game ahead of the tournament. The Sevilla man has now scored 20 goals in 67 caps for Morocco, moving just one behind third-placed Hakim Ziyech in the list of all-time top scorers for the Atlas Lions.
