Wolves vs Nottingham Forest prediction, odds, tips and team news

Wolves take on Nottingham Forest in the Premier League on Monday evening. The game can be seen live on Sky Sports Main Event in the UK, kicking off at 8pm GMT. Check out our best bets and match preview below.

Few would have predicted that 21 points would separate Nottingham Forest and Wolves at the season’s halfway stage. Forest have won 37 points in 19 Premier League games, an improvement of 20 points from their total at this stage last season (17). Two of the last three teams with a 20+ point improvement at the halfway stage in consecutive seasons have then won the league – Chelsea in 2016-17 (+29 from 2015-16) and Leicester City in 2015-16 (+26 from 2014-15).

Nottingham Forest to Win (7/5 with AK Bets)

Nottingham Forest have kept eight clean sheets in 19 matches this season and with Wolves being without Matheus Cunha on Monday, I’m getting behind the 7/5 for an away win.

Cunha ranks first for goals and joint second for assists for the Old Gold this season and his creativity will be a considerable loss. Up against a Forest side that has won five in a row and sits inside the Champions League places, Wolves could struggle for goals against such an organised unit. Only Liverpool have a better record on the road this season than Nuno Espirito Santo’s side since the start of the campaign.

Matt Doherty 2+ Fouls (10/3 Boosted Price with Sky Bet)

Most bookmakers have Matt Doherty priced around 7/4 to commit 2+ fouls at Molineux, and I’ve taken a bit of the 10/3 that is on offer with Sky Bet. Doherty has been playing on the left of a back three, and in his last five starts, he has been booked twice. More importantly for this bet, he has been given away 2+ fouls in three of those five, with totals of 3,2,0,1 & 2.

Up against Chris Wood, Ramon Sosa and Morgan Gibbs-White, 10/3 looks a very backable price.

How both teams go into Wolves vs Nottingham Forest

Wolves are in 17th place on 16 points, just a point outside the relegation places with 19 matches remaining. They are now unbeaten in their last three, with Vitor Pereira picking up seven points in his three Premier League games in charge of the club (W2 D1) – should they win this game, Pereira will have won more points (10) and games (3) than Gary O’Neil managed in his final 19 games in charge (W2 D3 L14 – 9 points).

Forest are flying and have won five on the bounce in the league. With five Champions League places looking likely in the Premier League this term, there is every chance Forest could return to Europe’s elite club competition. With wins over Spurs, Villa, Man United, and Liverpool this season, they have looked the real deal. Heading into Gameweek 20, they sit third on 37 points after 19 matches,

Wolves team news

The hosts will miss their star man, Matheus Cunha, through suspension. Pablo Sarabia, Mario Memina, Toti and Boubacar Traore are all confirmed absentees. Yerson Mosquera and Sasa Kalajdzic are close to returning, but this game may come too soon.

Nottingham Forest team news

Wolves have lost just one of their last 12 league games against Nottingham Forest (W5 D6) and are unbeaten in all five against them in the Premier League (W1 D4). Nottingham Forest are winless in their last four top-flight away games against Wolves (D2 L2), since a 4-1 win in December 1980 under Brian Clough.
