How to watch Wolves vs Newcastle live
Wolves vs Newcastle kicks off at 4:30pm (UK time) on Sunday, 15th September, and will be broadcast live in the UK on Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Premier League.
How both teams go into Wolves vs Newcastle
Wolves had endured a tough start to the new Premier League season. In what can be seen as Gary O’Neil’s first full season in charge — having had a pre-season to prepare — Wolves lost their opening two matches. They opened with a 2-0 defeat to last season’s runners-up Arsenal at the Emirates, before being beaten 6-2 at home by Chelsea.
But they did go into the international having picked up their first point of the season. It came on the road against Nottingham Forest, with Jean-Ricner Bellegarde equalising Chris Wood’s opener — both goals coming inside the opening 15 minutes. However, there’s still plenty of work to do for Wolves if they’re to stay clear of a relegation battle this season.
Newcastle, meanwhile, have enjoyed a strong start to the new campaign. Last season was a tough one for Newcastle and a big drop off from their Champions League qualification a year prior. So this year it’s all about Newcastle proving their top four finish wasn’t a fluke.
For all the worries about their poor summer transfer window, Newcastle have picked up seven points from their opening three games. They opened the campaign with a 1-0 win over Southampton before drawing 1-1 against Bournemouth — albeit in controversial circumstances. Newcastle then made it two wins from three before the international break, beating Tottenham Hotspur 2-1 at St James’ Park.
Wolves team news
Wolves remain without long-term absentees Enso Gonzalez and Sasa Kalajdzic for this one. Boubacar Traore is also expected to miss out.
Yerson Mosquera returns from the international break after a solid performance for Colombia in their win over Argentina. He’ll be hoping to carry that form into the Premier League, at the heart of Wolves’ defence alongside Craig Dawson.
Newcastle team news
Sandro Tonali made his return from a footballing ban before the international break and starred for Italy in their win over France. But Eddie Howe may still opt against starting Tonali, given the settled midfield and the Italian’s fitness.
Fabian Schar is back from suspension and should replace Emil Krafth at centre-back. Lloyd Kelly is preferred to Lewis Hall at left-back. Sven Botman and Jamaal Lascelles remain long-term absentees, while Lewis Miley is also a few weeks away from fitness. Callum Wilson and Joe Willock could also miss out.
Wolves vs Newcastle head-to-head
Newcastle are unbeaten in their last five meetings with Wolves, winning all three home matches and drawing twice on the road.
