Two teams already on the beach?
As we edge towards the end of the 2023/24 Premier League season, some teams already look to be packing for the beach. Wolves may harbour some European hopes still, but they will be slim. Gary O’Neil’s side are current 11th, seven points behind sixth-placed Newcastle United and would need a lot to go their way if they are to challenge.
One of the reasons for Wolves’ drop of late has been their poor form. They’ve now won just one of their past eight games across all competitions, and area winless in their past six. That run has seen them knocked out of the FA Cup, beaten in the semi-finals by Coventry City and drop down to ninth in the Premier League. Wolves’ sole victory came against Fulham in the Premier League in March but they have drawn two and lost three of their five games since.
Bournemouth are also in a bit of a slump, having turned things around in March to move well away from the relegation zone. Sitting 13th, the Cherries are now mathematically safe and like Wolves may harbour slim hopes of pushing up the table — they sit just one point behind their hosts this week.
Their climb up the table came thanks to a run of four wins from five games, crucially against teams below them in the table, beating Burnley, Luton, Everton and Crystal Palace alongside a draw with Sheffield United. But Luton got their own back earlier this month with a 2-1 win and Bournemouth have since drawn with Manchester United and lost to Aston Villa, the latter result coming at the weekend despite taking the lead.
Wolves vs Bournemouth match tip
Highest scoring half 2nd @ 1/1 with BetGoodwin
As mentioned, Bournemouth took the lead in their 3-1 defeat to Aston Villa at the weekend, with Dominic Solanke opening the scoring in the 31st minute from the penalty spot. Morgan Rogers equalised for Villa just before the break, before two second-half goals sealed their victory. The second halves of Bournemouth’s matches have been where all the action is of late, with 14 of the last 19 goals scored in the Cherries’ games coming after the break.
Wolves vs Bournemouth odds
Wolves were the initial slight favourites going into this game, but Bournemouth now edge it. This is likely because Wolves are on a worse winless run than Bournemouth, who have also had to face Man Utd and Aston Villa in their last two matches.
