Wolves vs Chelsea Premier League prediction: Blues searching for first points under Enzo Maresca
Chelsea will be searching for their first points under Enzo Maresca when they travel to face Wolves in the Premier League this weekend.
Three Wolves vs Chelsea predictions
Wolves 2-1 Chelsea (14/1 with Midnite)
Chelsea hate playing Wolves at the moment. The Blues have won just one of their past eight games against the Midlands side. Wolves have won the past three and are unbeaten in their last four games against Chelsea at Molineux.
Matheus Cunha to score anytime (5/2 with Midnite)
Matheus Cunha came off the bench in Wolves’ defeat to Arsenal last weekend but he loves to play Chelsea. The Brazilian has won all three of his games against the Blues, netting a hat-trick at Stamford Bridge last season.
Highest scoring half: 2nd (21/20 with Midnite)
The past five games between Wolves and Chelsea have been goal fests, with 17 goals scored. Of those 17 goals, 12 have come after half-time.

How to watch Wolves vs Chelsea live
Wolves vs Chelsea is scheduled for 2pm (UK time) on Sunday 25th August but will not be broadcast live in the UK.
How both teams go into Wolves vs Chelsea
Chelsea had an extremely tough first game of the Enzo Maresca era, losing 2-0 to Manchester City at Stamford Bridge. The Blues looked good at times but old habits die hard and poor finishing played its part in their defeat. Man City’s goals could have been avoided on Chelsea’s part too, so there is a lot for Maresca to improve on.
Of course, Chelsea also have the distraction of trying to trim the squad with some key names reportedly free to leave should the right offers come in. And, Chelsea go into this game off the back of their Europa Conference League play-off round first leg against Servette, which they won 2-0 but without a convincing performance.
Wolves also started the new season with a defeat, beaten 2-0 by Arsenal away from home. This is the second campaign under Gary O’Neil, and Wolves grew as last season went on. They built their 14th-placed finish off the back of their home form, with eight of their 13 league wins coming at Molineux. That includes home wins over the likes of Chelsea, Tottenham and Man City last season.
However, they have also lost six of their nine Premier League home games so far in 2024, winning three. The question is will Wolves re-find their form? O’Neil’s side have lost their last four Premier League games, their worst run since six consecutive defeats between May and August 2021.
Wolves host Chelsea at Molineux on Sunday 25th August at 2pm (UK time).
Wolves team news
Nelson Semedo remains out for this game, serving the second of a three-match ban for his red card on the final day of the 2023/24 campaign. Leon Chiwone and Enso Medina are also out due to injury.
After using a back three for most of last season, Gary O’Neil opted for a back four against Arsenal last time out. Of course, Wolves are having to deal with the loss of Max Kilman to West Ham, so we could see no change to the back line. Further up the pitch, Hwang Hee-chan played out wide to accommodate Jorgen Strand Larsen through the middle.
Chelsea team news
Reece James continues to serve his four-match ban for a red card towards the end of last season, with this game three. Marc Cucurella had to come off against Man City but is expected to be okay. The Blues have a lot of players to choose from, but Maresca may opt to remain unchanged from their opening game.
That would see Robert Sanchez starting in goal over summer signing Filip Jorgensen, who was on the bench last weekend. Djordje Petrovic appears to be out of favour, among those tipped to be sold this summer.
Wolves vs Chelsea head-to-head
Wolves are on a good run of results against Chelsea. A 4-2 win at Stamford Bridge in February was Wolves’ third consecutive victory against Chelsea. They haven’t won four in a row against Chelsea since 1947 when Wolves had a run of five wins — spread either side of the Second World War.
