How both teams go into Wigan Athletic vs Fulham

It’s been an inconsistent season so far for Wigan, who sit 16th in the League One table after their 1-0 defeat at home to Peterborough last time out. However, in the FA Cup, they’re going strong. The 2012/13 winners and 2013/14 semi-finalists have already beaten Cambridge United 2-1 and Mansfield Town 2-1, both away from home, to set up this clash with a Premier League side.

Fulham have lost two of their last three Premier League matches but remain 10th in the table and just seven points off the top six, so don’t let their current form fool you; Marco Silva’s men are a force to be reckoned with. The Cottagers thrashed Championship side Watford 4-1 in a ‘Marco Silva derby’ to book this trip to the Brick Community Stadium.

Wigan Athletic team news

Tyrese Francois missed the defeat to Peterborough but should return here, while Jensen Weir will play against Lincoln ahead of this match after completing a three-match suspension.

Fulham team news

Kenny Tete is unlikely to be fit for this match due to a knee problem, but Reiss Nelson has an outside chance of returning to the squad after a hamstring injury.

Wigan Athletic vs Fulham head-to-head

This will be the first meeting between these sides since October 2020, when they battled to a 1-1 draw in Wigan. The Latics haven’t beaten Fulham since October 2006, when Henri Camara’s goal delivered a 1-0 victory at Craven Cottage.
