Before the international break, West Ham endured a three-game losing streak in the Premier League, beaten by Aston Villa, Everton and Brentford. This came after a draw against Newcastle, a four-game winless run overall. But that came to an end in exciting fashion, with the Hammers beating Nottingham Forest 3-2 at the London Stadium. David Moyes’ men took the lead but then had to come from behind against Forest, claiming the victory thanks to Tomas Soucek’s 88th-minute goal.

They’ll be hoping to continue their run of winning their last seven Premier League games against promoted sides against Burnley, who are rooted to the bottom of the table. The Clarets haven’t enjoyed life back in the Premier League, with just four points from their opening 12 games. A draw with Nottingham Forest and win over Luton have been Burnley’s only points this season. Since beating Luton at the start of October, they’ve suffered five straight defeats, including one against Arsenal before the break.

Turf Moor in recent seasons has been a tough place to come for opposition sides, but not this season. Vincent Kompany became one of just two managers after Mick McCarthy (first seven) in Premier League history to lose his first six home games in charge and another defeat here would see him move one game away from a new unwanted outright record.

Burnley fans may be starting to get worried and when looking at their attacking numbers you can see why. The Clarets rank 19th for shots, 19th for xG, 18th for shots on target, 18th for touches in the opposition box and 20th for goals scored, with only Lyle Taylor (3) and Josh Brownhill (2) scoring multiple goals in the Premier League for the club so far this season.

West Ham meanwhile, boast the 5th highest shot conversion rate in the Premier League so far this term (14.48%) and have over performed their xG by 3.1.

When you add that to the fact that West Ham are unbeaten in their past four games against Burnley, the Hammers will feel confident about a victory. However, this is also a meeting of two of the Premier League’s worst defences, with only Burnley (30), Sheffield United (31) and Bournemouth (27), conceding more goals this season than West Ham’s 22. Michail Antonio Jarrod Bowen

Michail Antonio returned early from international duty with Jamaica and will be out for the foreseeable future with a knee injury. Jarrod Bowen also exited the England camp before the match with North Macedonia and is a huge doubt here, so his chance of becoming just the third player to score in seven consecutive Premier League away games after Robin van Persie and Sergio Aguero may have to wait.

The injuries open the door for Danny Ings to start against his former side however, and make it five goals in his last six Premier League games against the Clarets.
