Brighton vs West Ham preview: Predictions, tips, odds and team news
Brighton will be hoping to continue their bright start to the 2023/24 Premier League campaign when they host West Ham on Saturday at 5:30pm (UK time).
Brighton vs West Ham odds
Brighton’s first full season under Roberto De Zerbi got off to the best possible start with a 4-1 win over Luton Town on the opening weekend, which was followed up by another victory by the same scoreline against Wolves, leaving them top of the league on maximum points. The Italian joined Brighton very early last season, so it’s easy to forget he didn’t actually get a summer to fully plan his squad, only able to make minor changes to what was already in place. But now, preparing for the Europa League group stage, De Zerbi can put a bigger stamp on this Brighton squad and things are looking up.
West Ham were winners of a European trophy last season but it wasn’t a good campaign as they were battling against relegation until late on. The Hammers didn’t have the best of summers to start off with either, not really preparing for their Europa League campaign by bolstering the squad, made worse by the fact that they had money in the bank from the sale of Declan Rice. Things seem to be turning up a bit for the Hammers, though, and they followed up an opening-day draw with Bournemouth by beating Chelsea 3-1 at home.

Brighton vs West Ham match tip
Solly March to score anytime @ 11/4 with Bet365
While others will get the plaudits, Solly March has been something of an unsung hero at Brighton, especially since Roberto De Zerbi took charge. The local lad has scored 10 goals in 29 Premier League appearances under De Zerbi, more than any other Seagulls player, compared to just four in 148 matches before the Italian arrived. Three of those goals have come in two appearances at the start of this season.
Brighton vs West Ham Bet-Builder tip
BTTS, Over 2.5 goals and 90+ booking points @ 9/1 with Sky Bet
Brighton’s games under Roberto De Zerbi have been goal fests, with both teams finding the net in 22 of the 34 matches, and 118 goals scored in total. But there may also be a few cards. Referees have already been less lenient on dissent, time-wasting and the waving of imaginary yellow cards, with more real yellow cards shown. Only Newcastle (9) have been booked more than Brighton (8) so far, while West Ham aren’t far behind, sitting fourth on six yellow cards — Nayef Aguerd was also sent off against Chelsea last time out.
Both teams have scored in 21 of Brighton's 33 Premier League games under Roberto De Zerbi.
There have been 114 goals scored in Brighton's 33 Premier League games under Roberto De Zerbi.
Brighton are second in the league for yellow cards, while West Ham are fourth.
