How both teams go into Verona vs Juventus
After a disappointing finish in 2022/23, Juventus put themselves back among Italy’s European representatives last season. A third-placed finish secured Juventus’ return to the Champions League, but it also brought the end of Massimiliano Allegri’s second era. In came Paolo Montero on an interim basis, with Thiago Motta at the helm for the new campaign.
It was a successful start in the role for Motta, with Juventus opening up the campaign by beating Como 3-0 on the opening weekend. Juventus are now looking to win their opening two games of a Serie A season for the first time since 2019/20.
Hellas Verona are looking to become a stable team in Serie A and they have done well since their promotion in 2019. They have finished in the top half of the table three times, but did drop into the relegation play-offs in 2022/23. Last season they finished 13th, but called an end of Marco Baroni’s one-year stay as manager.
Paolo Zanetti is now the man in change and, like Motta, his reign had a successful start. Verona pulled off a big victory with a 3-0 win over Napoli on the opening weekend, and Zanetti will be hoping another scalp can fall.
