Ukraine vs Belgium Euro 2024 Prediction: Red Devils to Finish Job in Group E

The final game in Group E at Euro 2024 will determine whether Ukraine or Belgium, the two favourites to advance to the knockout stage, will be eliminated.

Ukraine vs Belgium Euro 2024 Prediction: Red Devils to finish the job?

Ukraine vs Belgium Latest Prediction

All four teams in Group E are tied on three points heading into the final matchday, with Slovakia and Romania playing their match in Frankfurt simultaneously.

Ukraine has the lowest goal difference among the four teams, so they need to win to secure qualification, while a draw will be enough for Belgium.

After a surprising loss to Slovakia, Belgium bounced back with a victory over Romania. Similarly, Ukraine overcame Slovakia after being upset by Romania at the start of the tournament.

The showdown between Ukraine and Belgium occurs on 26th June at the Stuttgart Arena in Stuttgart.

Belgium have racked up 36 shots in their opening two games of the tournament, managing 16 despite the defeat to Slovakia and 20 in their comfortable 2-0 win over Romania.

Ukraine managed 13 shots in each of their opening two games, meaning if both teams reach their average shots again in this game the shots aspect of this bet should roll home comfortably with 31 attempts at goal.

Unlike in the other Group E game on Wednesday, one team, Ukraine, needs all three points here in order to progress, which should lead to an open encounter with chances and goals at either end.

Ukraine are seeking a third knockout stage appearance for a major tournament. They achieved this feat at the 2006 World Cup and Euro 2020. All four of their matchday three group stage games have ended 1-0. They won the first match in 2006 against Tunisia but have lost the other three against England at Euro 2012, Poland at Euro 2016, and Austria at Euro 2020.

Belgium have lost only one of their last 17 games in all competitions (11 wins and five draws), which was a 0-1 loss to Slovakia in their opening game of this year’s European Championship. Since the start of 2023, their one defeat is the joint-fewest by any nation at Euro 2024 heading into matchday three, along with Switzerland.

Ukraine Latest Team News

Serhiy Rebrov hopes to have Everton left-back Vitaliy Mykolenko fit to start after missing their opening games due to a foot injury. If Mykolenko returns, Ukraine may shift to a three-man defence, which could put Arsenal’s Oleksandr Zinchenko’s place in the line-up at risk. There is also a possibility that Roman Yaremchuk may be called back into the team after scoring the winning goal against Slovakia. Artem Dovbyk’s underwhelming performance in the Euros may lead to him being dropped.

Belgium Latest Team News

Dodi Lukebakio is suspended for Belgium, which may result in Johan Bakayoko or Leandro Trossard returning to the starting lineup. Jérémy Doku should keep his position on the other wing. In the first two matchdays of this year’s European Championship, he completed more dribbles (9) than any other player, and only Joshua Kimmich created more chances from open play (8) than Doku’s six.
