Tottenham vs West Ham prediction, stats, tips & team news: Back Johnson to Score in 9/1 Bet Builder

Tottenham vs West Ham prediction, stats, tips & team news

Tottenham Hotspur will be hoping to bounce back from defeat when they host West Ham United in the Premier League after the international break.

Ange Postecoglou’s men saw a good run come to an end before the break as they were beaten by Brighton. West Ham, meanwhile, won their last time to end a four-match winless streak.

James Maddison & Mohammed Kudus Over 0.5 Shots on Target (13/8 with BoyleSports)

At first glance, 13/8 may look a little short for James Maddison and Mohammed Kudus both to have a shot on target, but both players have been consistently letting off attempts on goal this term, and this could be a high-scoring end-to-end affair on Saturday.

James Maddison is looking to be back close to his best this season and has recorded eight shots on target in his first seven league outings. The midfielder has found the net in two of his last three and is averaging a healthy 2.1 shots per game.

Mohammed Kudus has let off more shots than any other West Ham player this season, with an average of 2.9 per game. Across his last three Premier League outings, Kudus has recorded seven shots on target, which includes a tally of four against Ipswich in his most recent outing.

Brennan Johnson to Score & Emerson to be Carded (9/1 with BoyleSports)

Brennan Johnson is in the best form of his career. He has scored for club and country in seven consecutive matches, and I’m surprised to see him at such a big price to score against a West Ham side that has conceded 17 goals in their last five matches across all competitions.

Paired with Johnson to score is Emerson to be carded. West Ham’s left-back was shown 13 yellow cards for the Hammers last season, with 10 of those arriving in the Premier League. There has been a sharp rise in the number of cards being brandished by referees this term, and with Emerson being up against the dangerous Dejan Kulusevski, he looks like a prime candidate to pick up his third yellow of the campaign.

It’s been an up-and-down season for Tottenham so far. Ange Postecoglou’s men have won three of their seven games in the League so far, but they’ve also lost three. Spurs started with one win in their opening four, beating Everton alongside a draw and two defeats. One of those defeats came to Arsenal in the North London derby.

Tottenham bounced back from that defeat to win consecutive matches against Brentford and Manchester United. And they looked on their way to sealing a third successive victory over Brighton. But Postecoglou’s men gave up a 2-0 lead to eventually lose 3-2 to the Seagulls.

West Ham have also had a rocky start, with life under Julen Lopetegui taking a while to get going. The Hammers lost their first game against Aston Villa but beat Crystal Palace in their next match.

The fixture list has had its problems for West Ham, who lost two of their next four games, beaten by Manchester City and Chelsea. These defeats came alongside two draws. West Ham did return to winning ways last time out, though, beating Ipswich Town.

Tottenham host West Ham at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday 19th October at 12:30pm.

    Tottenham team news

Son Heung-min missed the defeat to Brighton before the international break, but should return here. Tottenham are still awaiting further news on Richarlison and Wilson Odobert, with the former expected to return to training after the break.

    West Ham team news

West Ham will hope the international break gives Niclas Fullkrug enough time to recover from his injury problems. They’ll also be hoping the international break is kind, with no other injury issues.

    Tottenham vs West Ham head-to-head

Tottenham have generally enjoyed their games against West Ham of late. After losing two in a row, Tottenham have avoided defeat in five of their past six games against the Hammers. This run includes three wins, but Tottenham did fail to beat West Ham in the league last season.
