Ange Postecoglu takes charge of his first competitive home game as Tottenham manager when they welcome top-four rivals Manchester United to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this Sunday evening.
The Australian’s Spurs regime started with a hard-fought 2-2 draw away at Brentford. Defenders Cuti Romero and Emerson Royal were both on the scoresheet for the North London side last Sunday.
On the whole, fans will be pleased with what they saw in the opener despite Harry Kane’s recent departure. Spurs sought to play on the front foot, controlled possession and looked the better side.
Manchester United, meanwhile, started their campaign with three points at Old Trafford, despite a less than impressive display against a Wolves team now managed by Gary O’Neil. A Raphael Varane header, his first league goal since the 2021/22 season, was enough to get Erik ten Hag’s side the win. But the Dutchman will have concerns over their performance. Wolves managed 23 shots, the most by a Premier League away side at Old Trafford since Chelsea in 2005. They ultimately missed countless chances in a match that, in all fairness, they should have won.

Tottenham Hotspur v Manchester United match tip
Casemiro to be carded @ 7/5 with Copybet
Casemiro has been a superb signing for Manchester United since joining from Real Madrid, but struggled in the Red Devils’ new look midfield against Wolves on Monday evening. The Brazilian looked all at sea as Matheus Cunha glided past him time after time as if he wasn’t there in their 1-0 victory and will need to improve drastically against Spurs’ new look side.
The midfielder is one of nine Premier League players to commit 50+ fouls since the beginning of last season and has picked up seven yellow and two red cards in his 29 Premier League games since the start of 2022/23.

Tottenham v Manchester United team news
Ange Postecoglu won’t want to make too many changes from his opening day XI against Brentford, but expect Davinson Sanchez to come in at centre-back if Cuti Romero is unable to play after coming off with a head injury. Ryan Sessegnon, Rodrigo Bentancur, Bryan Gil, Tanguy NDombele all remain out, while Fraser Forster is back in training, so could return to the bench.
