Tottenham vs AZ odds

How both teams go into Tottenham vs AZ

Despite finishing fourth in the league stage and their domestic struggles, Tottenham are still widely regarded as favourites to win this season’s Europa League.

Nevertheless, Ange Postecoglou’s side have work to do if they are to keep alive their last hope of landing silverware this season.

And confidence will not necessarily be soaring for Spurs, who have failed to win any of their last three matches in all competitions, though they did recover from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 with Bournemouth on Sunday.

The form book suggests AZ will be feeling the more confident of the two sides, having lost just one of their last nine games overall. That included an impressive 6-3 aggregate victory over Galatasaray in the previous round.

Despite playing four fewer league games than Spurs, Maarten Martsens’ side have collected nine more points in the Eredivisie (43 points in 24 matches) this season, while they are also fresh from having a free weekend.

They must draw on all those positives to stand any chance of ending their aforementioned difficulties on English soil.

Tottenham team news

Tottenham will be without the suspended Rodrigo Bentancur following his yellow card in the first leg, while the likes of Richarlison, Dejan Kulusevski, Radu Dragusin and Ben Davies are unavailable due to injury.

Micky van den Ven and Cristian Romero both returned from lengthy absences at the weekend, and could retain their places in the heart of defence, while Archie Gray could become the first English teenager to start 10 Europa League matches in a single season.

AZ team news

Mayckel Lahdo and Denso Kasius, who both limped off during the first leg, will not feature for AZ in the return fixture, while the likes of Sven Mijnans, Ruben van Bommel, Jayden Addai and Mexx Meerdink are also absent through injury.

The visitors’ line should be led by former Tottenham forward Troy Parrott, who will look to come back and haunt his old club.

Tottenham vs AZ head-to-head

Both teams have collected a win apiece from their two previous meetings in this season’s Europa League, with the home side prevailing 1-0 on each occasion.
