Spurs’ inconsistent start has been evident, as they have won just four of their opening nine Premier League games. However, their 4-1 win over London rivals West Ham will have boosted confidence, although the 1-0 defeat to Palace has left them five points off the Champions League places as we head into November. 

Villa occupy one of those Champions League places, and after their 1-1 stalemate with Bournemouth last weekend, they are now seven league matches unbeaten. Unai Emery’s side were knocked out of the EFL Cup on Wednesday, but their strong form in the Premier League and Champions League gives reason to believe they can pick up a positive result on Sunday.

Micky van de Ven is out with a hamstring problem after being taken off in the EFL Cup win over Manchester City on Wednesday. There is hope that Son Heung-min will be fit enough to start. However, Wilson Odobert and Djed Spence will both miss out due to injuries.

Aston Villa team news

Ross Barkley is the only confirmed absentee for Unai Emery’s side. Tyrone Mings and Boubacar Kamara both made it to the final whistle midweek in the EFL Cup, while Ollie Watkins is expected to start ahead of Jhon Duran in attack for the visitors.
