Tottenham vs Aston Villa prediction, odds, tips and team news: Side with Emery’s men at a big price
Tottenham Hotspur host Aston Villa in the Premier League on Sunday. Below, you can find a match preview and best bets for the game, which kicks off at 2 p.m.
Aston Villa to Win (5/2 with Sky Bet)
Villa have won at Spurs in three of their last four visits. They have strong form under Unai Emery against ‘big-six’ sides, and put simply; I feel 5/2 is too big a price to ignore on them getting the win on Sunday.
Spurs have struggled for consistency this term and were beaten 1-0 away at Crystal Palace last weekend. That defeat means that they have been beaten in nine of their last 16 matches under Ange Postecoglou in the Premier League, and after the high of beating City in the EFL Cup, they could be brought back down to earth with a damning defeat to Villa.
Dominic Solanke to Commit 2+ Fouls, and Destiny Udogie & Youri Tielemans 2+ Fouls Won (8/1 with Sky Bet)
We have put together a fouls-based Bet Builder for this clash in the capital, and we are kicking things off with Solanke to give away at least two fouls. The physical forward has committed at least two fouls in five of his last six, with totals of 2,2,2,3,1,4.
We then move on to the fouls won, and the first of two players we are backing to be fouled twice or more is Destiny Udogie. The marauding full-back has a knack of winning fouls for his team and has cleared the 2+ line in four of his last five league fixtures, with only James Maddison recording more for Spurs this season.
Youri Tielemans rounds off the trio of player propositions in this 8/1 Bet Builder. The Belgian has been excellent this season for Villa, and looking at his fouls won figures, he has recorded at least two in four of his last five matches: 2,2,1,2,3.
How both teams go into Tottenham vs Aston Villa
Spurs’ inconsistent start has been evident, as they have won just four of their opening nine Premier League games. However, their 4-1 win over London rivals West Ham will have boosted confidence, although the 1-0 defeat to Palace has left them five points off the Champions League places as we head into November.
Villa occupy one of those Champions League places, and after their 1-1 stalemate with Bournemouth last weekend, they are now seven league matches unbeaten. Unai Emery’s side were knocked out of the EFL Cup on Wednesday, but their strong form in the Premier League and Champions League gives reason to believe they can pick up a positive result on Sunday.
Tottenham team news
Micky van de Ven is out with a hamstring problem after being taken off in the EFL Cup win over Manchester City on Wednesday. There is hope that Son Heung-min will be fit enough to start. However, Wilson Odobert and Djed Spence will both miss out due to injuries.
Aston Villa team news
Ross Barkley is the only confirmed absentee for Unai Emery’s side. Tyrone Mings and Boubacar Kamara both made it to the final whistle midweek in the EFL Cup, while Ollie Watkins is expected to start ahead of Jhon Duran in attack for the visitors.
Tottenham vs Aston Villa head-to-head
Aston Villa have won on their last two visits to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium but will be cautious after Spurs thrashed them 4-0 in their last meeting in March at Villa Park.
