As the Premier League returns from the “winter break”, Tottenham find themselves in a decent position. After struggling for a long period, Tottenham are within just three points from the Premier League’s top four, breathing down the necks of Manchester City, Arsenal and Aston Villa. Ange Postecoglou’s men bounced back from defeat to Brighton by beating Bournemouth with relative ease, before their draw with Manchester United last time out. However, they may be rocked slightly by their FA Cup defeat to Man City over the weekend, leaving the Premier League as their sole focus for the remainder of the campaign.

Brentford had a hard-fought victory over Nottingham Forest last time out, but it’s still a time of worry for the Bees. Having performed so well since their promotion to the Premier League two years ago, Brentford have to admit that they are included in the tight relegation battle at the moment. After 20 games played (one fewer than the teams around them) Brentford are six points clear of the relegation zone, and have to hope their win over Forest wasn’t just a fluke. The win did end a five-game losing streak in the Premier League which put them where they are initially.

Tottenham vs Brentford match tip

Richarlison to score anytime @ 7/5 with BetMGM

A lot of eyes will be on Ivan Toney and whether he can continue his goalscoring return to football, but the focus should really be on the form of Richarlison. The Brazilian lifted Tottenham when Son Heung-min was struggling for form and has continued that while the South Korean has been at the Asian Cup. Richarlison has now scored six goals in his last six Premier League games, as many as he had managed in his previous 47 appearances. On top of that, eight of his 10 goal involvements this season have come in his last seven home games.

Tottenham vs Brentford Bet-Builder tip

Tottenham to win, over 3.5 Timo Werner shots and Tottenham most cards

Brentford may have won last time out but they aren’t in good form right now, losing each of their last four away games in the Premier League. Timo Werner made his Tottenham debut against Manchester United last time out in the Premier League and it was an eventful one in front of goal, with the German having five shots (without hitting the target). London derbies can be feisty affairs, and it’s actually Tottenham who average more cards in the Premier League this season than Brentford at 2.71 cards per game to 2.20.
