Can Liverpool win a quadruple?
While it would not be THE Quadruple, Liverpool are in a good position to win a quadruple this season. The Reds have already wrapped up the EFL Cup, beating Chelsea in the final, the first of four trophies available to them this season. They also lead the Premier League, one point clear of second-placed Man City and are in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup.
It’s a bit of a full circle for Liverpool too, with this being their first season in the Europa League since Jurgen Klopp’s first year in charge. Now, with Klopp leaving this summer, it would be a perfect send off to win the one trophy he is yet to lift as Liverpool manager. The previous appearance in the Europa League saw Liverpool go all the way to the final before losing 3-1 to Sevilla, who secured a third successive victory in the competition.
Liverpool finished top of their Europa League group, winning four and losing two, earning them direct passage into the last 16. It was a good thing too, as the knockout round playoffs would have added even more strain to an already threadbare squad in what is a busy period. Liverpool have already played seven games since the start of February, with five coming in the past two weeks. It doesn’t get any easier either. Sandwiched between Liverpool’s two Europa League last 16 games against Sparta Prague is a title clash with Manchester City in the Premier League at Anfield. They then travel to face Manchester United in the FA Cup quarter-finals at Old Trafford after the second leg.
This is a crucial period for Liverpool’s quadruple hopes.
Sparta Prague vs Liverpool match tip
Liverpool to win to nil @ 11/4 by Bet365
Liverpool’s defence isn’t anywhere near full strength, but they have been pretty stern at the back recently. The Reds have now gone three games without conceding across all competitions, with one of those including 30 more minutes of extra time. Of course, Liverpool rode their luck at times, but that’s what you need at these moments. Sparta Prague will be up for this and the home crowd will be a big boost in their corner, but if Liverpool can leave Czech Republic with a clean sheet, it could be their biggest result yet.
Sparta Prague vs Liverpool odds
Liverpool are favourites for this game, but it’s a lot closer than some might have expected. That’s because you just cannot tell what will happen in European ties, especially when English teams play away from home in the first leg.
