How both teams go into Southampton vs Man Utd
Southampton’s return to the Premier League hasn’t been a good one. The odds were always against Russell Martin’s side, who were among the favourites to be relegated come the end of the season. But there may have been hope among Southampton fans, given odds were slightly altered by the fact that all three promoted sides went down last season.
After three games, Southampton aren’t doing much to prove their doubters wrong. Saints are one of two sides still waiting for their first win of the season. They lost their first two games against Newcastle United and Nottingham Forest 1-0, before a 3-1 defeat to Brentford going into the international break.
Man Utd, meanwhile, are once again suffering. Ten Hag was given another chance in the summer after leading Man Utd to FA Cup glory, despite reports that he would be sacked anyway. And the vultures are circling once more.
The Red Devils did start the new season with a 1-0 win over Fulham, which was more comfortable than the scoreline suggests. There was reason to be somewhat optimistic for Red Devils fans. But they lost their second game 2-1 against Brighton before falling 3-0 to Liverpool at Old Trafford last time out.

Man Utd will be hoping their injury problems have lessened when they return from the international break. The Red Devils could see Luke Shaw and Victor Lindelof return. However, they will still be without Mason Mount, Tyrell Malacia and Leny Yoro.
Rasmus Hojlund may be available, depending on his recovery.
