Slovenia vs Denmark Euro 2024 predictions, tips, odds & team news for Group C opener
Slovenia take on Denmark gets Group C underway at Euro 2024.
Latest Slovenia vs Denmark prediction
Denmark are the favourites ahead of the game, with Slovenia the rank outsiders in the group. History is on Denmark’s side, too, with Slovenia failing to beat their opponents in previous encounters.
Whoever wins this match will take a huge step towards qualifying from Group C, especially with both sides still having to play group favourites, England. Serbia are not to be underestimated, either.
Denmark should be able to find the three points, and we’re backing them to do that while also keeping a clean sheet.

Slovenia and Denmark open their Euro 2024 accounts on June 16 in Stuttgart with both searching for three points to kickstart their campaign. `
Both Slovenia and Denmark qualified for Euro 2024 from the same group, Group H, and shared identical records across 10 games, with seven wins, one draw and two losses. Denmark topped the group due to having a better head-to-head record against Slovenia, their 2-1 win in Copenhagen proving pivotal.
Latest Slovenia team news
Slovenia built their qualification for Euro 2024 off a sturdy defence that only conceded nine times. There are no household names in the back four, but fans will be familiar with Jan Oblak in goal following his consistently excellent performances for Atletico Madrid over the past decade.
In attack, Benjamin Šeško has been a key player for Slovenia since his debut in 2021. The Leipzig forward has 11 goals for his nation, with five coming in the qualifying campaign for this competition.
Slovenia’s chances of success this summer may well hinge on how well those two players perform for them. If Oblak can frustrate the forwards of Denmark, and England, and Šeško can continue his good form, they have an outside chance of qualifying for their first tournament knockout stage.
Heading into their opening contest, head coach Matjaž Kek doesn’t have a fully fit squad. Sandi Lovrić was reportedly nursing an injury before the team arrived in Germany, and there are still uncertainties surrounding the availability of Benjamin Verbič, Miha Blažič, and Petar Stojanović. If they are fit, all of them would be strong contenders for a starting position.
Latest Denmark team news
Plenty of players within the Danish squad will be familiar to English football fans. Their Euros squad includes 11 players who ply their trade in England, including Manchester United duo Rasmus Hojlund and Christian Eriksen. Four players also turn out for Brentford and three for Leicester.
Kasper Hjulmand is the man who led this side to the semi-final of Euro 2020, and he continues to be in charge here. He’ll be hoping to go at least one step further, and he’s certainly got plenty of experience within his squad with 12 players with 30 or more caps.
Simon Kjær is the captain of Denmark’s national team, but he won’t be playing every minute of the group-stage matches. However, he is likely to start in one of the upcoming games.
With England up next for Denmark, a win in this game could be pivotal for the Danish side. A win here relieves a lot of pressure, but failing to pick up three points means their match with England will be even more important if they hope to make it out of Group C.
Slovenia vs Denmark head-to-head record
Slovenia and Denmark have played each other six times in their history, with Denmark coming out on top in five matches. The solitary draw between the nations came in qualifying for Euro 2024, with Slovenia claiming a 1-1 draw in Ljubljana.
