Betting Tips
Sheffield Wednesday 2-1 Plymouth (15/2 with Betway)
The home side has won each of the last six meetings between these two teams, with the last away victory coming all the way back in 2011.
Jamal Lowe to score anytime (9/4 with Sky Bet)
Jamal Lowe scored three goals in his first five appearances on loan at Swansea last season.
Over 1.5 Sheffield Wednesday goals (19/20 with Unibet)
Sheffield Wednesday have scored two or more goals in five of their last six Championship games.
After avoiding relegation by a single point last season, Plymouth have brought in Wayne Rooney as their new manager, hoping he can move them up the table. A 1-0 victory against Hull City on the final day ensured the Pilgrims would play in back-to-back Championship campaigns for the first time since 2010.
Now, they will be hoping to look up the table rather than down. But Rooney’s tenure starts with a tough match away at a Sheffield Wednesday side that also flirted with the drop in 2023/24.
The Owls finished one place and two points above Argyle, ending the season in style with four wins and two draws from their final six matches. Danny Rohl, who was brought in last October has now had the summer to mould his squad how he wants it and we should see a much improved side in 2024/25.
Sheffield Wednesday host Plymouth Argyle at the Hillsborough on Sunday 11th August at 4pm (UK time).
