Scotland vs Poland Uefa Nations League prediction: Rebuilding after lacklustre summer
Scotland and Poland will both be looking to bounce back from disappointing Euro 2024 campaigns as their Uefa Nations League campaigns get underway on Thursday.
Both teams will have entered Euro 2024 with modest confidence in relatively tough groups. But neither side made it past the group stage, both getting one point from their three matches.
Three predictions for Scotland vs Poland
Scotland 1-0 Poland (24/5 with CopyBet)
Scotland are unbeaten in their eight previous Nations League home matches, winning seven, including the last five in a row. Of those successes, they have won four by a one-goal margin.
Scott McTominay to score anytime (10/3 with CopyBet)
Scott McTominay was the only Scotland player to find the net at Euro 2024, with their other goal scored by Antonio Rudiger. He is in good goalscoring form for Scotland, having scored in three of Scotland’s four home Euro 2024 qualifiers (five goals).
Under 0.5 Poland goals (17/10 with CopyBet)
Scotland have kept four clean sheets across their past five Uefa Nations League home matches. However, it’s worth noting that Scotland did keep close clean sheets in League B.

How to watch Scotland vs Poland live
Scotland and Poland kick off on Thursday 5th September at 7:45pm and will be broadcast live in the UK on ITV4 and ITVX.
How both teams go into Scotland vs Poland
Despite having a passionate and dedicated fan base in Germany, not many expected Scotland to have a successful run at Euro 2024. Their doubts were proved true as Steve Clarke’s men finished bottom of Group A, with the Tartan Army still awaiting their first appearance in the knockout stages of a major tournament.
Scotland suffered a heavy defeat to Germany before picking up a commendable draw against Switzerland. But their slim hopes of qualification to the knockout stages were extinguished by a late defeat to Hungary in their final game. Clarke has come under some criticism following Scotland’s Euro 2024 suffering, but he remains in charge and will hope to make a mark on Uefa Nations League A.
Poland were once seen as dark horses but they are simply making up the numbers now. Even with the brilliant Robert Lewandowski — who isn’t getting any younger — they were disappointing at Euro 2024. Poland suffered back-to-back defeats to Netherlands and Austria, which met a final game draw against France could not save them.
Michal Probierz remains in charge of Poland and has been tasked with rebuilding in the Uefa Nations League, before qualification for the 2026 World Cup begins.
Scotland will host Poland on Thursday 5th September at 7:45pm at Hampden Park in Glasgow.
Scotland team news
Scotland have been hit by a few injury blows after their squad was announced. Greg Taylor, James Forrest, Che Adams and Robby McCrorie have all dropped out of the squad due to injury.
There are six uncapped players in Scotland’s squad, including Connor Barron whose inclusion has upset some fans after Rangers’ rough start to the season. After limited playing time at Euro 2024, Lawrence Shankland will hope to play a significant role in the attack for Scotland.
Poland team news
Wojciech Szczesny has retired from international football, with Lukasz Skorupski, Bartlomiej Dragowski and Marcin Bulka the main goalkeeping options. Kamil Grosicki has also called time on his international career.
But Poland do still post the likes of Robert Lewandowski, Piotr Zielinski and Karol Swiderski among their squad.
Scotland vs Poland head-to-head
Scotland are unbeaten in their past six games against Poland. However, five of those have finished as draws. Overall, Poland lead this fixture with three wins to two (alongside six draws).
