Roberto Mancini is still searching for his first win as Saudi Arabia manager, after an unsuccessful break last month. The former Manchester City manager left his role as Italy boss after five years in August, in what was something of a shock departure. Within two weeks he was announced as the new Saudi Arabia boss, replacing Herve Rernard — via Saad Al-Shehri’s brief caretaker spell. In his first two games, Saudi Arabia took on Costa Rica and South Korea in a pair of friendlies in Newcastle. They lost the first 3-1 and then fell 1-0 to South Korea, extending their winless run to four matches, not including the Arabian Gulf Cup.

This month Saudi Arabia have a double-header of friendlies in Portugal, with Nigeria the first opponents. Nigeria come into this international break having secured their spot in next year’s AFCON, with a pair of friendlies starting their preparation, also providing a brief break before World Cup qualifying begins. Nigeria had a bit of a rough 2022, failing to qualify for the 2022 World Cup, and losing to Algeria, Costa Rica and Portugal in friendlies — despite winning their opening two AFCON qualifying games. This year also started with defeat to Guinea-Bissau, but Nigeria have bounced back with three successive victories, including one against Sao Tome and Principe last month.

Saudi Arabia vs Nigeria match tip

Nigeria to win & BTTS @ 16/5 with Betfred

Nigeria are fancied heavily to win this match and it’s understandable given the form of the two teams. Saudi Arabia are yet to win a game this year, not including the Arabian Gulf Cup, where they did not play their full internationals. At the same time, Nigeria have built a run of three successive wins after losing their first game of the year. Saudi Arabia did draw a blank against South Korea last time out but they had scored in their previous three games.

Saudi Arabia vs Nigeria Bet-Builder tip

Victor Osimhen to score anytime & Nigeria to score in both halves

Nigeria have scored nine goals in their past two matches, a 3-2 win over Sierra Leone and 6-0 thrashing of Sao Tome and Principe. Victor Osimhen is responsible for four of those goals, netting a brace in each match. Nigeria also found the net in all four halves across the two games, with four in the first halves and five after the breaks.

Saudi Arabia vs Nigeria team news

Every single member of Saudi Arabia’s squad plays in their native country, including Salem Al-Dawsari who is the top scorer with 21 goals in 78 appearances. Roberto Mancini named a monster roster of 31 players, giving him a lot of options from which to choose.

Nigeria have gone full-strength for this break, with Gift Orban looking to make his Super Eagles’ debut. Victor Osimhen will be hoping to add to his impressive goalscoring record of 20 goals in just 26 appearances for Nigeria.
