After a long wait for fans, Real Madrid finally get their pre-season underway with this enticing friendly. Los Blancos are defending Spanish and European champions, lifting the Champions League two months ago. That was their 15th European Cup, placing them now eight clear of the second-most successful side, AC Milan.
Of course, AC Milan haven’t won the Champions League since 2007, with five of their successes coming last century. They also haven’t been challenging too much in the competition, with just three appearances in the past 10 seasons. In that time — which has been in the past three seasons — AC Milan have reached the semi-final once sandwiched by two group stage exits.
This is AC Milan’s penultimate pre-season friendly, taking on Barcelona next week before returning for the start of the Serie A season – where they face Torino. It’s been a quiet pre-season in terms of games, with AC Milan only facing Rapid Vienna and Manchester City. They drew in Austria before beating the Premier League champions 3-2 at the weekend.
Real Madrid also have a short pre-season when it comes to friendlies, only facing Barcelona and Chelsea after they take on AC Milan. That’s because they open their campaign with the UEFA Super Cup final against Atalanta, four days before the new La Liga season begins.

Fran Gonzalez, Eder Militao, Jacobo Ramon, Vinicius Jr and Rodrygo will all link up with the squad in America, but may not be involved against AC Milan. Endrick could feature.

AC Milan have a strong squad from which to choose, but they are also missing players. Mike Maignan will link up with the team after they return from America, as will Theo Hernandez and Tijjani Reijnders, who all reached the semi-finals at Euro 2024.
But the Rossoneri are able to call upon the likes of Christian Pulisic, Rafael Leao and Luka Jovic.
