The stats behind our QPR vs Leeds predictions:

  • Leeds have taken 2.2 points per game away from home in the Championship in 2024.
  • Crysencio Summerville is Leeds’ top goalscorer this season with 19 league goals.
  • Despite picking up recently, QPR have won just one of their last four league games (D1 L2).
  • Leeds have kept just one clean sheet in their six away games across all comps.

Leeds must win

With automatic promotion out of their hands as things stand, Leeds know that all they can do is win both of their two remaining Championship games and hope that Ipswich drop points. The Whites currently sit just one point clear of their promotion rivals in third, but with the Tractor Boys having a game in hand there’s a chance they may have to do it the hard way in the play-offs if Ipswich don’t falter.

After a tricky spell over Christmas that saw them lose back-to-back games against Preston and West Brom, Leeds’ form picked up once again as they went on a 15 game unbeaten run, winning each of their opening nine league games in 2024. However, recent defeats to Coventry and Blackburn as well as a goalless draw against Sunderland has seen their chances of automatic promotion look a lot less secure than they did at the start of the month.

They travel to a QPR side that currently sit 18th in the table, four points clear of relegation. Things were looking bleak for the Rs at the start of the season under Gareth Ainsworth, but new manager Marti Cifuentes has guided them clear of relegation with their place in the Championship next season nearly confirmed.

When he took over, the Hoops were second bottom with just eight points from their opening 14 matches and sat six adrift of safety, but he has worked wonders to get them to where they are now.

What a season it’s been for Leeds’ 22-year-old forward Crysencio Summerville. Having emerged into the first team last season, where he made 12 starts in the Premier League, the Dutchman has now made the left-wing role his own in 2023/24, being named the club’s Players’ Player of the Season after scoring 19 goals and providing a further nine assists in 41 league appearances so far this campaign.

Despite QPR’s form picking up under Marti Cifuentes, Leeds are odds on favourites for this one as they know it’s a must win game if they are going to have any chance of finishing in the automatic promotion places and returning to the Premier League without having to go through the play-offs.
