In an interesting coincidence, we are exactly where we were a year ago with PSV and Rangers on level pegging ahead of what is essentially a final to secure Champions League football. In last year’s final qualifying round, PSV left Ibrox with a 2-2 draw in the first leg but lost 1-0 at home, having to settle with the Europa League group stage. Fast forward 12 months and last week PSV left Ibrox with a 2-2 draw in the first leg of their Champions League qualifying play-off, but they’ll be hoping for a different end result.

Last week, Rangers twice took the lead before being pegged back, to actually extending their winless run in the Champions League to two matches, having also drawn the second leg of their third round tie against Servette. However, they bounced back win a 2-0 win over Ross County at the weekend and will be hoping to build momentum ahead of the upcoming Old Firm Derby. For PSV, meanwhile, last week’s first leg was the first game they had failed to win this season, going into the game with five victories from five across all competitions. The Dutch side also had a free weekend to prepare for this game, and will be hoping the freshness is an advantage.

PSV vs Rangers match tip

Luuk de Jong to score a header @ 3/1 with Sky Bet

Luuk de Jong scored the second equaliser for PSV last week, taking his total tally for Champions League qualifying to four goals this season. The Dutchman also netted three goals in the third round against Sturm Graz, two at home and one away. And, crucially, three of those four goals have been headers with De Jong once again proving to be a serious aerial threat.

PSV vs Rangers Bet-Builder tip

PSV to win tie, John Souttar to be carded & BTTS

While Rangers had the last laugh in 2022, winning the away leg, PSV will be confident of getting their own back this time around with a 15-game unbeaten run at home. In the first leg, John Souttar was among the players booked, picking up his second yellow card of Champions League qualifying, walking a tightrope for suspension ahead of the group stage. With four goals in the first leg, you can expect action at both ends of the pitch once more, especially with Rangers scoring 13 goals and conceding five in their past six matches across all competitions.

PSV vs Rangers team news
