How both teams go into PSG vs Man City

When the Champions League league phase fixtures were first revealed, many would have expected this to be a battle between two sides fighting for automatic qualification to the knockout stages. But it’s almost the opposite. Both sides are at genuine risk of failing to qualify.

Man City are in the better position, currently 22nd in the table. If the league phase were to end now, they’d just about scrape through to the knockout phase play-offs, albeit as an unseeded team. Pep Guardiola’s men have won two, drawn two and lost two of their six games so far. They’re currently one point clear of the bottom 12 spots.

PSG, meanwhile, are in a bad place. They’re currently 25th, the first place that would fail to qualify for the knockout stages. They’ve also won two of their six games, but have lost three alongside one draw. They have scored just six goals and conceded six, really failing to inspire.

PSG team news

PSG don’t have any major injury problems at the time of writing.

Man City team news

Man City remain without Oscar Bobb and Rodri. But they’ll be hoping for more positive news surround John Stones.
