PSG vs Lille odds
Paris Saint-Germain sits atop the table with 47 points, eight points above Nice through 20 matches. The hosts won their last Ligue 1 match 2-1 against Strasbourg, extending their undefeated run to 15 matches (12 wins and three losses). Lille meanwhile defeated Clermont 4-0 at home in their last Ligue 1 match to extend their unbeaten streak to three games (two wins and one draw), leaving them in fourth place on 35 points.
The visitors enter this weekend’s game having registered three straight clean sheets for a third time this season. A key reason behind their defensive prowess has been Leny Yoro, who has become a target for Real Madrid, among others. “Yoro’s stature is very similar to Varane’s. He also has that strength and that top speed in every game. Technically, he has very good movement: he finds players with higher echelons and lines. Furthermore, he does not lose duels,” says former Villarreal defender Cesar Arzo, who now advises the Lille centre-back.
“It may be creating too many expectations, but he has certain similarities, in physiognomy and physical power, with Van Dijk,” he added.
Across Europe’s top five leagues, only three defenders aged 23 and under have won at least 20 aerial duels and 20 ground duels while maintaining at least a 65% win rate for both: 18-year-old Yoro (69.2% aerial, 65.5% ground), 21-year-old Jarrad Branthwaite (66.7% aerial, 68.8% ground) and 23-year-old Jan Paul van Hecke (66.2% aerial and 69.4% ground).
Removing age criteria, the only Premier League players that can match this are Virgil van Dijk, Ethan Pinnock, Ezri Konsa and Nathan Aké. PSG’s Danilo Pereira is the only Ligue 1 player who can match Yoro.
