In one of the six-team groups, Portugal still boast a 100% record in qualifying, and they could secure qualification by the weekend. The 2016 European champions have won all six of their matches so far and sit eight points clear of third-placed Luxembourg. If they beat Slovakia, their spot will be secured, and they will still qualify if they draw and Luxembourg lose. Infact, Portugal are the only side not to concede a single goal during the qualifying campaign, facing just 5.5 shots per game, whilst also finding the back of the net 24 times themselves as they cruise to a place at Euro 2024.

It’s in stark contrast to their qualifying campaign for Euro 2020, having to wait until the final game to seal second place. Portugal also needed the play-offs to qualify for the World Cup, so this will be a welcome relief for fans.

Slovakia, meanwhile, are hoping to stay in control of their own qualifying destiny. Sitting second in the group behind Portugal, Slovakia have won four of their six games so far, drawing one and losing off — of course, beaten by Portugal. It leaves them three points clear of third-placed Luxembourg, whom they beat in June and drew with in March. So they do have the better head-to-head record should it come down to that, but Slovakia will want to ensure they can secure qualification by points, especially with no play-offs to fall back on.

If they do manage to secure a spot at Euro 2024, Slovakia would have qualified for each of the last three tournaments, having failed to do so between 1996 and 2012.

Portugal vs Slovakia match tip

Portugal to win to nil @ 5/6 with BetGoodwin

As mentioned, Portugal have been formidable during qualifying for Euro 2024, winning all of their six games while scoring 24 goals. At the other end of the pitch they have been perfect too, keeping six clean sheets, and are one of two nation yet to concede in this edition of qualifying alongside France. Their last game against Slovakia was a 1-0 win away from home, with Bruno Fernandes scoring the only goal.

Portugal vs Slovakia Bet-Builder tip

Bruno Fernandes to score anytime >  Under 2.5 goals with Midnite

Bruno Fernandes was the goalscoring hero when Portugal beat Slovakia 1-0 last month, the start of what was a good break for the Man Utd man. He also found the net in the 9-0 win over Luxembourg in Portugal’s next match, taking his tally in qualifying to four goals.

The midfielder has been directly involved in nine goals in just six qualifying appearances (4 goals, 5 assists), finding the back of the net in three of his last four Euro 2024 qualifiers.
