Despite picking up just one win from their last eight Premier League games, Nottingham Forest go into the weekend’s matches in 14th place, eight points clear of the relegation places with 13 points from their opening 12 matches. Steve Cooper’s men couldn’t build on their impressive 2-0 win over Villa last time out, falling to a 3-2 defeat to West Ham despite coming from behind to take the lead in the 63rd minute.

Forest are still unbeaten at home this season however, recording three draws and two victories over Villa and Sheffield United. The Tricky Trees have picked up more points in their five home games this season (9) than in their opening five games last term and are looking to go unbeaten in their first six matches of a Premier League campaign for just the second time after the 1995/96 season.

Brighton, meanwhile, made it three straight 1-1 draws in the league against Fulham, Everton and Sheffield United as they extended their run without a win to six matches in the Premier League (D4, L2). This a stark contrast to their start to the season which saw them win five of their opening six matches (L1), scoring 3+ times in all five victories.

Despite a downturn in form, mainly due to their endless injury list, 2023 has been a good year for Brighton. The Seagulls have scored 90 goals in 44 games across all competitions, which is their most in a single year since 1976 (92). It’s also their best average goals per game in a year (2.05) since 1955, when they scored 118 goals in 53 games (2.23 per game). 23 of their Premier League goals in this calendar year has seen at least one teenager involved, more than all other teams put together (15). In Premier League history, only Liverpool in 1998 (31) and Everton in 1999 (24) have had more in a calendar year.

As well as scoring a lot of goals, Brighton have also struggled to keep sides out at the other end. They have both scored and conceded in their last 16 Premier League matches and if they fail to keep a clean sheet and find the back of the net here, they would set a new Premier League record.
